“’Assumed’ my ass,” the Hatter stated with just enough bite.

The longer he found himself in the presence of the other, the more he found himself getting angry. It would have just been easy to shoot a bullet at the general area of the other’s temple, but it wasn’t like the cat was doing anything purposely irritating. He never really did in these cases; he just hated the Cheshire Cat that much.

“First give me a good reason.”

” Now, now Hatter. There is no valid reason for you to be upset ~ “.

Truth be told, it was true! The Mad Hatter did not have any legitimate reason for him to get mad at him. Well not any valid reason , he could remember atleast.

” Is Alice a good enough reason for you Hatter ” the feline replied, his voice taking on a note of seriousness just for a split second before chuckling again.

” I suppose it does, you are the Queen after all “.

Whatever you say is law even if it is irrational was what he wanted to say next but he held his tongue. After many experiences, Cheshire knew what to say and what not to say about certain people especially with the so-called ’ celebrities ’ of Wonderland.  That’s why he was such a charmer after all. 

” I stumble upon a lot of interesting things your Highness. Some of it you may know and some of it you will eventually know about “.

“Cheshire Cat, why do you always have to talk in riddles~? Its highly aggravating to say the least” Even if his words were laced with his annoyance- his expression was the opposite. It almost seemed as if the Queen always smiled-whatever the situation was.

“Why don’t you just start by telling me things that I might know? It’s always better than waiting for you to tell me things that I shall know in the future~”. As you will never tell me that.

He waved his hand to show that the Cat could talk-or better said that he wanted the Cat to talk.

” I’m only playing the role with the name given to me, your Majesty ” he replied , his voice and expression still cool and casual but there was a hint of hostility, it showed in his eyes. 

That is all he did after all, follow the role given to him when he arrived in Wonderland. He was just being himself, nothing more, nothing less. 

” Well I don’t think you can do that. I am sworn to secrecy after all ” a chuckle escaping his lips as it was obviously a joke. There were no secrets , not from the Queen of Hearts at least.

The Queen grinned satisfied. He liked it when he was right even if the question of the Cheshire Cat wasn’t all that hard to answer. The fact that he was right counted the most. The Queen took a few steps-almost passing the Cheshire Cat, his shoulder brushing the one of the brunette.  He glanced over his shoulder at the Cat and smiled softly.

“Oh, you would want to know that eh? Nothing much, everything is going just fine and I am happy about that. My mood goes down if things happen in Wonderland that I don’t like~”.

“How about you? Stumbled upon some interesting things while you strolled around?”

” I suppose it does, you are the Queen after all “.

Most of Cheshire’s meetings with the Hatter never did start off well. It always started with the other pointing a gun at him, there was even a moment where he almost pulled the trigger. 

Suffice to say, their meeting were always very interesting, at least on Cheshire’s end. 

“Now, now Hatter!  ” he replied in a singsong voice, holding his hands up in the air to symbolize that he didn’t want any trouble. 

” I thought we were friends ~ “. 

Luckily enough (for the surrounding area’s sake) the Hatter was only half tempted to squeeze off a shot and hope the idiot cat would just stay still long enough for it to connect. These sorts of encounters with the Cheshire Cat were enough to almost turn the man’s mood sour. Or rather more sour than it already was.

Sometimes he just wished he could go a day without having to hear that irritating voice.

“Get lost.” The annoyance in the Hatter’s voice was quite clear. If he could see the sort of expression the other was making, then maybe he would have pocketed the pistol.

“Since when the hell were we friends?”

” Oh I don’t know. I just assumed we were ” he replied , a nervous chuckles escaping his lips.

On the contrary, Cheshire did know that the Mad Hatter did not like him at all. Playing around with him was just very amusing for him. And he did have his own reasons for pestering the Hatter, reasons that were connected to Alice but of course no one knew that. It was his little secret which he intended to keep.

” May I suggest putting the gun away now? “.

“You flatter me with your words~” He replied back and smiled a bit wider. He gave the women a nod and moved away from them-closer to the cat. He found some truth in the cat’s words. In his eyes though a pet had to remain where a pet had to stay and in this case in the Duchess mansion. Yet he didn’t bother saying that. The Cheshire cat was not allied with him nor pledged his loyality to the Queen so all his words would fall on deaf ears.

“Indeed, that is exactly what you are. Which brings us to another interesting matter. If you are such a stray why bother going back to the Duchess?”

” Hmm? “.

Once again the Queen never failed to pique his interests as he always thought of the most interesting questions to give Cheshire. Sometimes he would often wonder if The Queen did this on purpose but he’ll just keep that to himself. He wouldn’t want his head to get cut off now would he?

” Perhaps I feel sorry for her, Your Majesty or perhaps I have my own reasons. What do you think? “. 

“Hmm…well-” The Queen began and raised his hand to hold his own chin. Frowing slightly-as if he was truly thinking about the question the Cheshire Cat gave him. Slowly he dropped his hand and pulled his hands behind his back-leaning forward a little, a smile decorating his features.

“I think you have your own reasons. No, I am quite certain that you have your own reasons. Am I right~?”

” Correct you are, your Majesty ! ” he replied enthusiastically another chuckles escaping his lips. 

He was sure that the citizens of Wonderland were staring at them because in all honesty, it was an uncommon sight to see the Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat talking. Then again, Wonderland was full of surprises. 

” So anything interesting that has been going on in the courts lately, your Highness? “.
